A peek into the life of a Senior Project Manager – An Interview with Rhys Leader

Rhys Leader has been with VIPR for the past five years, beginning his career as a customer advisor and moving through various positions before finally landing his dream role as a Senior Project Manager. With a wealth of experience in payment process platforms and VIPR's quote and bind side of the business, Rhys now focuses on VIPR's overall implementation process for the entire range of products.

"I'm part of the delivery team, and I work closely with all the business analysts. The main difference between a Business Analyst (BA) and a Project Manager is that a BA is more focused on gathering requirements and finding solutions, while a Project Manager makes sure that client requests are delivered on time and meet or exceed expectations," Rhys explains.

Over the years, Rhys has seen a significant shift in VIPR's client profiles, with larger organisations now choosing VIPR as their vendor of choice for their delegated underwriting solutions, alongside small-to-medium global companies. The past 36 months have seen rapid expansion into Europe and North America, making it an exciting time to be part of the company.

When it comes to solving client challenges, Rhys and the team help clients standardise data and implement analytical reports to make better decisions for managing risk and underwriting. The VIPR Insights platform has been a game-changer for clients, allowing them to unlock the power of their data and improve overall performance.

Rhys interacts with clients from the initial discovery call and kick-off meeting to the go-live phase, ensuring smooth communication and progress along the entire process. Rhys also contributes and handles change requests from clients, which can range from small adjustments to complex, year-long projects.

He enjoys working with a diverse range of people within VIPR, including the CEO, C-level management, testing teams, data analysis and coders.

“As a Senior Project Manager, it’s a privilege to be working with a wide range of clients, making each day unique and fast-paced. Collaborating closely with Business Analysts and providing weekly updates to clients, this ensures their expectations are met and exceeded”, said Rhys.

Rhys works with multinational insurance companies and large corporations, contributing to Proof of Concepts and pre-sales work. He also engages with C-suite clients and helps them with the adoption of VIPR technologies. Collaboration with partners, such as ProGlobal, is essential for seamless delivery.
